Causes and what to doWhat to Expect
The cost depends on what failed, how old the system is, how easy it is to reach, and whether parts are readily available. We explain all of that and give you the price before work begins.
A part that's simple to replace costs less than a larger repair. Older systems and special-order parts can change the picture, and after-hours calls differ from regular hours. We won't ask you to approve anything until you've heard what we found.

Same-day repair is often available, but it isn't guaranteed. Special-order parts can delay a repair. Emergency service is available 24/7. Call 765-863-3333. Regular hours are Mon–Sat 7 am–6 pm, closed Sunday for regular service. When you call, we'll tell you what to expect for your situation. We don't promise an arrival time.
AC problem
If your AC runs but the air isn't cold, something is limiting how well it removes heat from your home. Common reasons include a dirty filter, restricted airflow, a thermostat setting, or a problem with the outdoor unit or refrigerant. A proper diagnosis finds which one.
The AC is running, but air from the vents feels warm or only slightly cool. The house takes much longer to cool, or never reaches the temperature you set.
A clogged air filter. Blocked or weak airflow. Thermostat mode or fan setting. An outdoor unit that isn't running as it should. Low refrigerant, which can point to a leak.
Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool and the temperature is below the room temperature. Check whether your air filter is dirty or clogged, and replace it if it is. Look at the outdoor unit from a distance to see whether it's running and whether leaves or debris are piled around it.
If those checks don't help, call us. Don't open panels or try to fix electrical or refrigerant parts yourself.
AC problem
Ice on your AC usually means airflow or refrigerant level isn't right. Switch the system off, don't chip the ice, and call us. Running a frozen system can damage it.
Frost or ice on the indoor coil area, on the refrigerant lines, or on the outdoor unit. Weak or warm airflow from the vents.
A dirty filter or poor airflow. A low refrigerant level. Other problems a professional has to measure and confirm.
Switch the thermostat to Off. Check whether your air filter is dirty or clogged, and replace it if it is. Don't chip or scrape the ice, which can damage the unit.
If ice returns after it melts, or you can't find an easy reason, call us. Repeat freezing is a sign something else needs attention.
AC problem
If the outdoor unit hums but the fan isn't turning, a part that helps the motor start may have failed. Shut the system off instead of letting it keep trying, and call us. Don't attempt electrical repairs yourself.
You hear a hum or buzz from the outdoor unit, but the fan on top doesn't spin. The AC isn't cooling.
A failed capacitor or a motor that can't start.
Switch the thermostat to Off so the unit stops trying to start. Keep your hands and tools away from the unit.
Right away. Don't keep restarting it, and don't open the unit.
AC problem
If nothing happens when the thermostat calls for cooling, the cause could be as simple as a thermostat setting or as involved as a failed part. We check the simple things first and tell you what we find.
The indoor or outdoor unit stays silent. The thermostat display is blank or doesn't respond.
Thermostat settings or dead batteries. Loss of power to the system. A failed control part such as a contactor.
Make sure the thermostat is on, set to Cool, and the temperature is below the room temperature. Replace thermostat batteries if yours uses them.
If the system still won't start, call us. Don't open panels or work on wiring.
AC problem
Refrigerant isn't used up like fuel. If the level is low, there's usually a leak, so adding more without finding the leak is only a temporary fix. We look for the cause and explain it before any work.
Warm air from the vents. Ice on the lines or coil. A system that runs a long time without cooling well.
A leak somewhere in the refrigerant system.
Switch the thermostat to Off if you see ice, and check the filter. That's as far as a homeowner should go.
Call us. Refrigerant work is done by an EPA-certified owner. We don't offer do-it-yourself steps, because refrigerant needs the right training and equipment.
AC problems
Some AC problems are smaller or less common than the ones above, but they still deserve attention. Here are four common ones.
If the AC doesn't respond to the thermostat, check that it's set to Cool, the temperature is below the room temperature, and the batteries are fresh. If it still misbehaves, call us.
Humming, clicking, grinding or squealing can mean different things. Switch the AC off if a noise is loud or sudden, and call us.
If the AC turns on and off in short bursts, it may not cool or dry the air well and can wear parts faster. Call us to find the cause.
Your AC removes moisture from the air, and that moisture is normally carried away without any mess. If you see water around the indoor unit, switch the AC off at the thermostat, stay clear of standing water near electrical equipment, and call us.
Repair or Replace
It depends on the problem found, how old the system is, and what the repair would involve. We'll tell you what we found, quote the repair option, and let you weigh it against replacement. We repair first when practical and recommend replacement when it makes sense.
Age, the part that failed, and the cost of repair compared with a new system all matter. Even when replacement makes sense, you can ask for the repair price too. Tyler brings 10+ years of garage door and HVAC experience. We also sell and install ACiQ systems if you decide to replace.
