Common Problems

Is a mini-split right for your space?

Mini-splits solve specific problems well. These are the most common reasons people choose one.

No Ductwork

Older homes and homes heated by baseboard or boilers can get efficient cooling — and heat — without adding ducts.

Additions and Bonus Rooms

New spaces the existing system can't reach, or rooms over the garage that never get comfortable.

Garages and Workshops

Heat and cooling for a space that's used often but isn't connected to the house system.

Hot or Cold Rooms

One room that's always uncomfortable, even when the rest of the house is fine.

Zoned Comfort

Multi-zone systems let different rooms run at different temperatures from one outdoor unit.

Efficient Heat Pump Heating

Mini-splits are heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool.

What to Expect

Installed for the room, not just the wall.

A mini-split has an outdoor unit, one or more indoor heads, and a refrigerant line set connecting them. Where each piece goes affects comfort, appearance, drainage, and noise, so we plan the layout with you during the estimate.

As an authorized ACiQ dealer, we can quote ACiQ ductless equipment, and we repair and maintain all brands. Refrigerant work is done by an EPA Section 608 Universal certified owner.

Planning

What we work out during the estimate.

  • The size of each room or zone and how it's used
  • Single-zone or multi-zone, and how many indoor units
  • Where the indoor units mount and where the line set runs
  • Where the outdoor unit sits, and clearance around it
  • How condensate will drain from each indoor unit
  • Whether the electrical panel has room for a new circuit

Cost

What affects the price of a mini-split.

Number of zones

Each indoor unit adds equipment and installation time.

Capacity

Larger spaces need larger units.

Line set length and route

Longer or more complicated runs between the indoor and outdoor units add labor and materials.

Electrical work

A new circuit or panel work, if needed, adds to the job. We'll tell you during the estimate.

Repair & Maintenance

Keeping a mini-split running well.

Mini-splits need regular cleaning to keep airflow up and prevent odors and drainage problems.

Clean the filters

Most indoor units have washable filters. Check them monthly during heavy use.

Common problems we repair

Weak cooling or heating, water dripping from the indoor unit, error codes, and outdoor units that won't start.

Professional cleaning

Coil and drain cleaning on a regular schedule helps the system keep its efficiency.

Common Questions

Straightforward answers.

Have a question that isn't listed here? Call765-863-3333and we'll be glad to help.

Can a mini-split heat my space in winter?

Yes. Mini-splits are heat pumps, so they provide heat as well as cooling. Ask us during the estimate how a system would perform for your space and how you plan to use it.

Do you install multi-zone systems?

Yes. One outdoor unit can serve several indoor units in different rooms, each with its own temperature setting.

What brand do you install?

We're an authorized ACiQ dealer and can quote ACiQ ductless equipment. We repair and maintain all brands.

Are estimates free?

Yes. Estimates for new mini-split systems are free.

Why is water dripping from my indoor unit?

Usually a clogged or poorly sloped condensate drain, or a dirty filter or coil. Turn the unit off and call us so we can find the cause.

Is your work warrantied?

Yes. Our labor carries a 1-year warranty, and equipment and parts carry the manufacturer's or supplier's warranty.
